hidden treasure in Sanur, located just a few minutes from the famed beach, is Soul in a Bowl – a relaxed and trendy café serving up some powerful flavours from all over the world. Located in a quiet idyllic neighbourhood that is fast becoming a culinary hotspot, this eatery has been making a name for itself. During the day, the alluring ambiance makes Soul in a Bowl the perfect place for an afternoon cup of coffee alongside a next-level breakfast or an afternoon deli delight. Tasteful wooden décor and al fresco dining areas contribute to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, while serious cuisine keeps customers coming back.

Delicious and hilariously named dishes such as “What my Wife Eats” grace the restaurant’s unique breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Behind the name “What my Wife Eats” is an incredibly complex breakfast, equally appetising to both husband and wife, consisting of steamed organic quinoa, wilted spinach, roast tomato and capsicum, tomato oil, poached eggs and feta cheese.

Equally impressive creations fill the pages of Soul in a Bowl’s culinary repertoire as a creative collection of dishes continues into the afternoon and evening, culminating with an excellent, newly designed dinner menu. At night, Soul in a Bowl becomes a restaurant and bar with a vibrant tapas and dinner menu. Upstairs, every Wednesday and Friday evening a local band plays soothing notes while diners settle in for a relaxed evening of socialising over international cuisine and cocktails. A memorable evening begins with the alluring house pâté – this savoury and sophisticated appetiser is made entirely in the Soul in a Bowl kitchen and is the perfect precursor to a wonderful meal to come. For the main course, the popular crispy duck leg is emblematic of the eatery’s unique blending of cuisines to delicious ends. The duck leg is infused with the spices of Malang, Indonesia, topped with fresh coconut and shallots and served alongside an impeccable house-made sambal chili. Even a cursory glance at the menu reveals that this vibrant dish is just one of many gems to be found at Soul in a Bowl.
