Bushmills: Ireland’s Oldest Distillery and a National Treasure

Smooth and classy, serve on its own, over a chunk of ice, with a mixer or as a component of a classic cocktail.

Astride the River Bush on the beautiful Causeway Coast, County Antrim, and secreted away within the village of Bushmills, discover an Irish national treasure, the Old Bushmills Distillery where master distillers have been hand crafting triple-distilled Irish whiskey for over 400 years.

Steeped in history, the Bushmills story began in 1608 when King James I granted Sir Thomas Phillips, the Governor of County Antrim, a license to distil. But it was not until 1784 when Hugh Anderson registered the Old Bushmills Distillery that the brand, including its iconic Pot Still trademark, was truly born.

There are just six core whiskeys in the award-winning portfolio: Bushmills Original, Black Bush, Red Bush, 10 Year Single Malt, 16 Year Single Malt and the rare and highly prized 21 Year Single Malt, all crafted using Irish barley and water drawn from Saint Columb’s Rill, a tributary of the Bush River. The result is a high-quality spirit that is enjoyed on its own or with a mixer by its disciples and much-loved by bartenders who value the richness it adds to their exciting concoctions.
