Located on the 57th floor of Sands Skypark Hotel, Tower 1, LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar is Singapore’s latest Italian-American restaurant, bar and nightclub that boldly bills itself as a venue where high-quality Italian-American cuisine meets electrifying music – the ultimate vibe-dining experience.
Set against Singapore’s spectacular skyline, LAVO is a sleek space with an eclectic design that features large multi-level dining areas, a luxurious lounge complete with a fully-equipped DJ booth and a large outdoor bar and terrace.
The interior design is a mix of heavy wooden tables, booths, seats and benches designed to contrast with the rustic décor. There’s ample seating at the bar and a few strategically placed loveseats – two-seater sofas upholstered in plush purple material.
A photogenic heaven designed to make the most of the view, the sweeping terrace offers high tables and relaxed low sofas along with plenty of open floor space and of course a magnificent 180-degree panorama of the city and Marina Bay below.
With separate lunch and dinner menus the choice of delectable brunch and Italian light and hearty classics is excellent. The portions are generally large and include sharing appetizers like The Meatball, a succulent and spicy dish combining 1lb of fresh imperial wagyu beef and Italian sausage topped with a healthy dollop of whipped ricotta cheese.
Naturally there’s a range of gourmet pizza and pasta dishes like truffle gnocchi, cavatelli Bolognese and the succulent chicken agnolotti. From the brick oven the delicious Carne, a perfectly cooked elongated pizza served on a bread board and topped off with capocollo, prosciutto, pepperoni, tomato and fresh mozzarella, is a wise choice.
From the grill check out the red snapper, filet mignon, rack of lamb or for the real carnivores the porterhouse steak. Add toppings like black truffle butter and creative sides such as mixed wild mushrooms, truffle fries and creamed spinach.
Featuring a choice of salads and a raw bar that showcases dishes like freshly shucked oysters, lobster cocktail and the fabulous seafood plateau, there’s also a selection of fresh and light options. For those with a sweet tooth the signature 20-layer chocolate cake, thin slices of chocolate layered with peanut butter mascarpone, is a truly decadent treat.
The drinks list is equally as impressive and features wines, Champagnes, beers and premium spirits and a host of classically inspired cocktails like the Frozé, a blended rosé slushy with fresh raspberry syrup. For a spicy cocktail try the LAVO Mule while the Dragon Spritz, muddled dragon fruit and Aperol spritz, is as refreshing as it sounds.
