Le Petit Paris

Croissant & Cappuccino

La Boulangerie Parisienne brings you the two F&B essentials you’ll need to start your day right: croissants and coffee.

Finding premium-quality croissants in Bali is not an impossible feat, but transporting yourself to a scene reminiscent of Paris right here on the island was previously  unthinkable – until La Boulangerie Parisienne opened its doors in late 2017, that is.

La Boulangerie Parisienne founder, visionary and avid businessman Reza Sunardi, welcomed us to this newest brainchild of his and elaborated on how his love for the authentic Parisian delicacies came to fruition. His previous post in one of the leading hotel groups in Bali allowed him to be involved in the food and beverage quality control process, including perfecting the art of making croissants. Reza had to go to different prestigious cafés and restaurants to taste and study their croissants in order to gain a deeper understanding of  the much-loved baked goods.

What was just a passing daydream years ago, started to become reality  when Reza travelled to Paris and other cities around Europe last year,  visiting no less than 39 boulangeries to – you guessed right – taste croissants from day to night. His croissant journey also included Montreux, La Bouveret, Caux, Lausanne, Lucerne, Zurich, Munich and Amsterdam. When he had finished his research, he made his dream come true by opening La Boulangerie Parisienne in his hometown of Bali in December.

Every little detail in the café pays homage to the most romantic city in the world. From the charming plates with shabby-chic floral patterns, to the interior and decor, La Boulangerie Parisienne takes incorporating 1920s Parisian art deco on the premises very seriously. Voila! A petite joint that provides a little Paris in Bali, with exquisite bites and beans to go with the theme. One can even tell from the fleur de lis logo, that the cafe promises Paris.

La Boulangerie Parisienne takes its croissants very seriously and offers a wide variety of the baked goods: plain, cheese, almond, chocolate, cheese chocolate and cheese almond. With only the best ingredients, including premium butter from Normandy, France, you know you’ll only get top-notch croissants here.

Furthermore, the café also offers other delectable delicacies all day long, with highlights including the chicken liver pâté in a jar served with cornichon, mixed greens and sourdough, truffle croquet monsieur with beef ham, Swiss cheese and white sauce and smoked salmon bruschetta with capers, cream cheese, scrambled eggs and French baguette.

Other than its croissants, La Boulangerie Parisienne boasts a premium coffee selection, highlighting its piccolo coffee, which aims to cater to coffee drinkers looking for something stronger than a cappuccino or cafe latte, but smoother than an espresso. The cafe also offers a pairing menu that allows you to pair your croissant with coffee or tea, like the plain croissant with a latte, or pain au chocolate with a piccolo.

If you’re not a coffee drinker, then opt for the tea pairing menu, with French premium tea brand Dammann Freres on offer. Have your cheese croissant with the gun powder, or the almond croissant with jasmine tea, it’s all up to you.

Add to all the aforementioned goodness some French tunes, like Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose wafting through the charming cafe, and you will get a truly mesmerising Paris experience right here on the tropical island of Bali.
