Room 309 at The Pottinger Hotel

Room 309 at The Pottinger Hotel

Located on the third floor of The Pottinger Hotel, a petit boutique residence found on Queen’s Road, lurks a magical little bar, Room 309. From the outside it looks just like any other room, but once inside guests experience an intimate venue catering for just 20 guests, where one feels the only limitation is imagination itself.

The first thing prospective patrons need to know is that to enter this den of pleasure they need a key card, adding a degree of exclusivity. This can be claimed at The Reception at The Envoy on the same floor, hinting theatrically at the enticing cocktail experience hidden within.

Crystal Old Fashioned

Once inside, intricate details like the antique wood pillars with majestic lion heads, the stately writing desk and formal stationary hark back to a bygone era. Richly decorated, the venue is windowless and has low levels of lighting that craft a dark and intimate ambience; something akin to a cross between a 19th century speakeasy and an alchemist’s lair perhaps.

In this unique hotel room, expert resident bartenders mix, stir and shake a wonderful array of modern and heritage cocktails, including those from the acclaimed invisible signature menu, a listing printed on transparent plastic hidden with a plain package.

Renowned for bringing the world of Multisensory Mixology to Hong Kong, Room 309 is the brainchild of acclaimed bartender Antonio Lai, who has created a superb collection of concoctions, such as Clear Colada Punch, The Gone Gimlet and the Crystal Old Fashioned.
