Enjoy the power of nature with a well-composed, raw ingredient facial at Maya Sanur Spa.

Raw food ingredients have been used for thousands of years in skin-care routines. Problems with dry skin? Pat some oil on it. Sunburn? Rub in aloe vera. Tired eyes? Tea bags and cucumbers are sure to relieve the problem.
Considering the plethora of ingredients, it might be a little daunting to find the right ones for you. Doing research, reading and comparing can amount to a serious task, so Maya Sanur Spa has gone ahead and done the hard work for you and created the ultimate facial, which is full of raw compounds.
Following the hype of healthy eating and a balanced lifestyle, I was allured by Maya Sanur Spa’s menu, which is full of energy-boosting, soothing and nourishing holistic body care. The ingredients of all treatments are appropriately combined to create facials, scrubs and body treatments that aim to rejuvenate your skin, give it a lasting glow and prep it for the days ahead.
Just browsing through the offers made me hungry as Maya Sanur Spa uses a lot of natural, gourmet ingredients, such as avocado, orange, cucumber, yoghurt, eggs, seaweed, caviar, green tea, honey and chocolate. Intrigued by the all-natural ingredients, I chose the Maya Facial that promised to leave my skin fresh and relaxed – something I always long for in the hot, Indonesian sun.
From the spa lobby, I was led up a beautiful wooden staircase to one of the six private suites equipped with two comfortable spa beds, a bathtub filled with rose petals and an ensuite bathroom. Once I wrapped myself in the spa sarong, my feet were delicately scrubbed with sugar and rinsed with rose water.
The Maya Facial then begins with a face cleanse using plain yoghurt, which has acidic qualities and dissolves dead skin cells. Once this is done, a sumptuous cucumber tonic is used to refresh the skin.
Once prepped, a peeling mask made of finely grained sugar is used to polish your skin cleaning it of all impurities. From here, the therapist takes you deeper into a relaxed state with a massage for which a water lily massage cream is used. Just when I thought it could not get any better, a mask made of egg white and pure orange was applied to my face, stimulating my sense of smell with the fresh and sweet aroma of the citrus.
While your face is resting under the mask, your eyes are covered with juicy cucumbers to replenish skin, remove puffiness and reduce dark circles. At the end of the facial, an aloe vera moisturiser and an eye cream are applied to fortify the treatment.
Amazed with the result of the Maya Facial, I had to ask what could be done to keep my skin in such a fantastic condition for longer.
“If you want to make sure that your skin is glowing and doesn’t age too quickly, it is ideal to have a facial done twice a week,” said Darmiyatin, the spa’s manager. “Our signature” Maya Facial is a great way to revitalise and moisturise your skin as it’s full of ingredients that Mother Nature bestowed on us in her kindness.”
