Uncovering a Hidden Gem

Tucked away on the side of a busy street in Jimbaran we discover a stylish, understated restaurant that gourmands will appreciate. Welcome to Noosa Restaurant.

As the sun sinks below the horizon in Jimbaran, Bali, the lights in Noosa Restaurant’s garden start to twinkle and light up the welcoming venue, turning it into a quiet, romantic oasis. The bustle of the traffic outside is forgotten in the peaceful Balinese ambience, with frangipani trees, birdcage-style lightshades, a sparkling pool and a stone frieze on the back wall creating a relaxing space. Diners are invited to take a seat on the outdoor terrace and soak in the atmosphere as they sip on a cooling drink while browsing the impressive menu.

Offering a range of beautifully presented and prepared French-influenced fine food, the menu at Noosa includes premium Miyazaki beef from Japan, Black Angus from Australia, the freshest fish and seafood from nearby Kedongan fish market, as well as a whole host of other prime ingredients.

With a deliciously rich French onion soup, a veritable feast of tender onion slices lazily floating in a piping hot rich broth topped with a cheese-laden chunk of bread, and a lusciously cool and creamy buratta salad served on basil mayonnaise accompanied by a simple tomato and green leaf salad adorned with a perfectly astringent balsamic dressing for balance opening the evening meal, the bar was set high and boded well for a highly satisfying culinary experience.

Not even thinking of resting on their laurels, the kitchen team at Noosa continued to show off their skills presenting Black Angus tenderloin so tender it could be cut with a mere butter knife. Another option was the stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon – a succulent, flavoursome offering accompanied by a honey and tarragon jus and vegetables. For those who prefer their protein from the sea, there are plenty of choices on the menu, including line-caught fish from the local fishermen and a whole host of seafood from local waters.

A selection of desserts included a sweet potato and white chocolate fondant, as well as vanilla pudding. The drinks menu ranged from various sakes to wines, cocktails, beers and mocktails, all of which the friendly and attentive wait staff will happily keep topped up.

While the main dining area is homely with dark wood furniture and sparkling glassware, diners can also request a romantic dinner up on the rooftop bar overlooking the garden for greater privacy, book in advance to request a special degustation menu to their own preferences, or take over one of the private dining areas for intimate group dinners.

Noosa is a dinner-only venue offering set menus and à la carte that is also ideal for celebrations, gatherings and group events. The chefs are flexible and are happy to work with you to create something special. It is surely one of Jimbaran’s better kept secrets that more people should definitely know about.
