E: What are your responsibilities?
Maximilien Provis: I’m leading the team towards the opening of Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue, especially the conceptualization of the dining venues, which is an exhilarating experience.
E: What makes a typical day?
M: Aside from building strategy and driving financial performance, what really makes my day is interacting with our guests and colleagues in our F&B venues, and welcoming client events at the already-open Grand Ballroom.
E: Your best attribute?
M: My strongest attribute is my passion. Passion for delivering a unique guest experience, passion for going the extra mile and passion for developing new talents.
E: Team player or team leader?
M: Team player. We have built a very strong team of young, highly motivated and guest-oriented talents here at Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue. We would not be able to create the unique and memorable experiences we intend without everyone feeling they belong and are a valuable member of the team.
E: Who has been the most influential figure in your career to date?
M: My father. He is also a hotelier. We share a similar background having graduated from the same hospitality school, Glion, starting our careers in Africa and specialising in F&B. I was fortunate to see him in action first-hand and he taught me to have the passion for excellence.
E: Name one really special thing about your hotel?
M: We will introduce Jakarta to the only dining venue offering four concepts under one roof, The Chinese National. Our respect for tradition combined with modern cooking techniques will make this venue a unique and exciting concept in the city.
E: How do you unwind?
M: Traveling and food are not only my job but also a lifestyle, so I am always on the hunt for new flavours, trends and experiences.
E: Dead or alive, who would you like to take out to dinner?
M: Sir Alex Ferguson. What I find fascinating about him is that despite winning all the titles out there for Manchester United, his relentless quest for excellence remained. He promoted youths, developed them and mentored them to success. These insights would be great to learn and implement in our industry.
