Barra Opens in South Jakarta

Barra joined the diverse South Jakarta culinary scene by bringing something different, a modern Japanese cuisine with a twist of Nikkei influence. Its second-floor open kitchen displays the robata theatre for diners and serves up a selection of warm robata-cooked plates, designed for sharing.

That being said, the restaurant’s menu is filled with grilled goodness, from kushiyaki, or skewers, that bear more than the usual chicken parts, to seafood, with salmon steak glazed in miso gochujang as the highlight. There are also the meat and steak lists, with the star creations being the MB7-grade wagyu striploin or rib-eye, as well as the US prime porterhouse. Apart from robata, the menu has other Japanese delicacies, like the Nikkei-style sashimi options, appetisers served in sharing tapas portions, or the à la minute iron pot rice, kamameshi.

Stepping into the third floor, guests will find Bar Barra, serving stunning cocktails and curated bottles. Interesting house mixes like Sakura G&T, Yuzu Apple and Honey Ryokucha come not only in glasses, but also on tap.
