Chef Akira Back, the visionary behind ABar Jakarta, has a culinary career spanning over two decades. His work is a fusion of his Korean heritage and the classic American steakhouse, creating bold and unique flavours. Chef Back’s namesake restaurant in Singapore was featured in the Michelin Guide in 2019. He expanded his culinary empire to Jakarta with AB Steak, located in Senayan City, which is also the largest AB Steak by Chef Akira Back restaurant globally. This establishment is among the first to blend lifestyle dining with innovative culinary concepts, combining the restaurant with ABar.

ABar Jakarta, the second establishment of the ABar brand, follows in the footsteps of its Bangkok predecessor, which is celebrated for having the largest gin collection. This Jakarta venue takes the concept further by focusing on experimental modern cocktails. Each drink is a well-balanced blend of flavours, from sweet or sour, to spicy or bitter – evident on its signature menu.

Among the signature cocktails is the Pomelo Sour Club, a notable cocktail with a strong kaffir leaf flavour that is smoothly balanced with pomelo gin and a spicy, tangy hint of raspberry. Meanwhile the Smoke Rum & Nut features a sweet, candy-like aroma that complements the smoky whisky, enhanced by a peanut candy crisp for an added texture. Another intriguing option is the A-Blanc, which combines torched Grana Padano with smooth whisky, creamy white cacao and light rum for a rich, harmonious taste.

For those opting a more East Asian influence, Gari Highball is a fizzy drink with the unique taste of pickled ginger, providing a fun and soulful experience. There’s also Yuzu Sawayaka that balances sweet and sour with the smoothness of melon, making it an addictive choice due to its aromatic qualities.

In addition to these signature cocktails, ABar Jakarta also offers a range of classic cocktails. The Hemingway Daiquiri is a refreshing blend of rum, maraschino liqueur and grapefruit, while the Zombie mixes rum and absinthe with citrus notes from grapefruit and passion fruit, heightened by falernum syrup and aromatic bitters. The Mojito, Negroni, Pina Colada, Aperol Spritz, Godfather and Amaretto Sour are also available, each offering a unique and sophisticated experience.
