Complex Marketing & Communications Director for The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Bali

Being Complex Marketing & Communications Director for The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Bali, leaves little time for Angelique Godow to put her feet up and relax. She shares that this new normal, or the current situation, has enabled her to take a breather from her busy life and reconnect with loved ones who live abroad.

Q: How has the stay-at-home situation changed your daily life?

A: Staying at home has actually enabled me to be more efficient and juggle a healthy work-life balance. More home-cooked meals, a healthy exercise routine, alongside virtual meetings and emails, is now the new norm. Also, although, my family lives on a different continent, I feel closer to them than before, as I am actively taking the time to reconnect with them and my friends.

Q: What activities do you like to do now that you have to stay at home more?

A: I’ve always enjoyed cooking and baking, however, I can definitely say that during this time my skills have improved. There really is no better stress reliever than cooking delicious food with fresh ingredients. Also, I have finally been able to read books that I have wanted to read for a very long time.

Q: Can you share any plans for your hotels once full operations resume?

A: I think the hotel industry will definitely develop and advance from everything that used to be the norm in the past. Hence, The St. Regis Bali Resort, as well as The Laguna Resort & Spa, both of which I look after, will certainly advance and embrace the new social distancing demands, as well as new and improved hygiene standards. Change is not a bad thing though, and I am excited to see what the future will bring.

Q: Please share your tips on what to do to stay positive at home.

A: Definitely don’t put too much pressure on yourself; smile, sing, go for a long walk, reconnect with loved ones and friends, and simply enjoy the beautiful sunshine and nature that Bali has to offer.

Q: Do you have any tips to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

A: Routine and willpower come to mind. It certainly isn’t always easy to stay positive and motivated in uncertain times like these, however, we have to see the positive from it and remind ourselves that now is the time to establish a healthy exercise routine, a nutritious meal plan and a positive mindset.

Q: Since you have to stay at home more, what do you miss most from normal life?

A: Meeting friends, cruising around on my bike and exploring the beauty of Bali, the pleasure of eating out and the occasional drink in a bar.

Q: What is the first country you want to visit after the quarantine is over and why?

A: It will have to be Singapore because I have someone special there; distance makes it difficult, however, not impossible. As they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
