The Art of The Japanese Atelier

The Art of The Japanese Atelier

Standing in the heart of Nusa Dua, Izakaya by OKU presents authentic Japanese taste through modern reimagination.

As one of the most visited travel destinations in the world, Bali is never short of amazing culinary experiences to try. Offering more than the palate could handle, this little island is home to thousands of restaurants ranging from small simple warungs to incredible fine dining establishments. To add another gastronomic experience for holiday makers at the start of this holiday season, The Apurva Kempinksi Bali is launching its signature Japanese restaurant, Izakaya by OKU.

Inspired by the award-winning OKU Restaurant at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, Izakaya by OKU is a modern Japanese restaurant with an atelier concept. The word izakaya refers to after-work hubs in Japan, where people gather over a meal and drinks. At The Apurva, the new restaurant features an open kitchen concept to showcase the chefs’ craftsmanship at the highest level.

Bringing more than 15 years of experience in Japanese gastronomy, Chef Deni Koswara is responsible for creating a menu inspired by traditional Japanese cooking methods and ingredients, supported by OKU Jakarta’s Chef Kazumasa Yazawa. At the newly launched restaurant, guests are treated to a series of signature dishes that include Karasumi Pasta, Truffle Gyu Don, OKU Aburi Salmon Roll and much more. An elegant dinner option is the Okukase – an enticing five or seven-course chef’s degustation menu paired with sakes and sake-based signature cocktails specially crafted by the sake sommelier.

Izakaya by OKU is open daily from 1 July for dinner only from 6pm to 11pm.
