Sizzling Hot In Nusa Dua
There are some things in life that make you feel glad to be alive, certainly reinforcing how fortunate you may feel to be experiencing the tropical island lifestyle in Bali.
Ensconced within The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in Nusa Dua’s gated resort complex, Arwana Restaurant is one of Bali’s finest beachfront dining options. It offers an al fresco dining terrace shaded by palms and lush foliage just in front of pristine white sands and azure transparent waters on a secluded section of Nusa Dua Beach. Inspired by the revered Arwana fish (a Chinese symbol of prosperity and abundance, of superior status in the marine kingdom), Arwana Restaurant ranks amongst the finest gourmet seafood restaurants on the island with an extensive selection of premium coastal cuisine, market-selected each morning by its team of chefs.
Luckily for us, Arwana Restaurant has just launched its Sunday BBQ by the Beach from 12 noon until 3PM. This weekly event stands out not just for the diversity of international gourmet BBQ and buffet culinary choices, but also for being one of the few resort-hosted Sunday lunches located this close to the shoreline!
Pace yourself when enjoying this delectable and bountiful feast of the freshest and best quality seafood. At the outdoor terrace grill – cleverly shaped like a fisherman’s boat – help yourself to freshly grilled seafood, which changes weekly depending on the day’s catch, such as succulent clams, tiger prawns, squid and pepes ikan (fish cooked in banana leaves). In addition to this abundant selection of seafood, you can indulge in premium meats, such as chicken drumsticks, prime sirloin steaks, marinated pork ribs, a variety of sausages and monster-sized chicken kebabs. From the live cooking stations, you can find baked fish of the day, like melt-in-your-mouth snapper, the spicy Asian favourite, chilli crab and pasta cooked a la minute with seafood or chicken.
For those inclined to dine indoors, you’ll find heaps of sumptuous treats, with the freshest offerings at the Sushi Bar in addition to seafood and salad stations serving poached wild Pacific salmon, peppered loin of tuna on mango salsa, DIY caesar salad and gourmet imported cheeses and freshly baked breads.
Once you’ve satisfied your savoury cravings, you can move on to a sinfully tempting display of desserts, featuring crepe and waffle stations, decadent Bitter Chocolate Fondue, homemade sorbets (exotic passion fruit comes highly recommended), macaroons and more. The attentive staff are on hand to assist and deliver dishes to your table.
Arwana’s BBQ Package is an amazingly well-priced IDR480,000 per person, tax and service charge is included, as well as beers, homemade specialty iced teas and soft drinks (children aged three to 12 dine for IDR240,000). The Beverage Package is an additional IDR480,000, inclusive of free-flow local wines and cocktail selections, including margaritas and mojitos; if you like your bubbly, Beverage Package Sparkling (IDR 750,000) includes sparkling and still wines, plus cocktails. When considering these options, note that Arwana is the 2014 recipient of the Wine Spectator Best Award of Excellence.
Fanned by cooling sea breezes with panoramic ocean views and a healthy dose of sunshine this idyllic setup is enhanced by Trio Batak – a group of talented acoustic musicians who sing three part harmonies – serenading guests throughout the feast and proficiently playing song requests from the audience.
Cancel your Sunday appointments and make it a blissful day. After the BBQ, customers can enjoy complimentary use of the designated beach and pool areas at the five-star resort for the remainder of the day on The Laguna’s private beach. Towels and sunbeds are provided, the latter subject to availability as well as additional non-motorized water sports.
Whether you’re dining as a couple, family or group of friends, as a birthday or anniversary treat, or simply celebrating life, this sizzling tropical treat is the perfect way to unwind on any given Sunday.
