One of the most awaited events in the region’s culinary scene has just taken place at W Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The publication of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017, sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, saw the most celebrated chefs and industry VIPs from Asian countries – including, but not limited to, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Maldives, Micronesia, Nepal, Singapore and more – gathering to wait for the announcement of who made the list.
First initiated in 2013, the 2017 list proudly welcomes 10 new entries and highlights Gaggan restaurant in Bangkok as the front runner at number one. Other highlights include China, Japan, Singapore and Thailand, which came in strong, each with nine restaurants on the list, and last but not least, the highest climb in the list’s history was made by Bali’s own Locavore, which leapt from number 49 to number 22. Congratulations to Gaggan and each and every magnificent establishment named in the 50!
