Jumeirah Bali is delighted to unveil its latest culinary venture, the farm-to-table concept at Segaran Dining Terrace guests are cordially invited to embark on a journey into the heart of Balinese tradition with a specially crafted Megibung menu for two. This captivating experience, available daily from 4pm to 10pm, not only allows patrons to delve into the cultural legacy still thriving in remote Balinese villages but also underscores the resort’s unwavering commitment to preserving the essence of traditional Balinese cuisine.
Chef Mustika elaborates on the significance of Megibung. “Megibung is a traditional Balinese way of dining that symbolises community and solidarity by bringing people together to share the food from one big plate or, more traditionally, off of a big piece of banana leaf,” said Mustika. “The word megibung comes from the Balinese word gibung, which means share with each other, and we wanted to celebrate this spirit of togetherness with this complementary set menu.”

Segaran’s Megibung menu offers a delectable homage to a bygone era when locally sourced ingredients and seasonal availability dictated daily fare. Guests can select from an array of protein-based sharing dishes, such as the Samsam Kriuk, featuring crispy pork belly cooked in cassava leaf and coated in a flavourful basa genep sauce. Seafood enthusiasts can indulge in a variety of dishes like Sate Languan, fish kebabs on lemongrass skewers; fish ball Soup Ikan prepared with local marlin simmered in Balinese spices and coconut broth; and Tum Ikan, steamed marinated coral fish enveloped in a fragrant banana leaf.
