In a city defined by its fast pace and ever-evolving trends, Bar Leone offers a refreshing pause. This relaxed bar, located in Hong Kong’s Central district, embodies the charm of Rome’s neighbourhood cafés. Founded by Lorenzo Antinori, who has led programmes at some of the world’s top bars in Seoul and Hong Kong, Bar Leone is a place where hospitality shines and cocktails feel like old friends.
Guided by the motto ‘cocktaili popolari’ or cocktails for the people, Antinori’s vision was straightforward: to create a space that feels less like a concept and more like a community. Here, you won’t find showy garnishes or molecular theatrics. Instead, the drinks are approachable, uncomplicated and all the more delightful for it.

The bar’s beverage programme champions what Antinori describes as craft casual, classics served with subtle, thoughtful twists. For example, a whisky sour is elevated by olive oil, while a mezcal margarita gains new depth with smoked corn and sloe gin. The ingredients are seasonal and high-quality, but there is no flair or fuss—just low-intervention bartending that honours simplicity. In keeping with its Roman influence, a mortadella sandwich proudly occupies a spot on the menu, fast becoming as iconic as the drinks themselves.
Bar Leone’s charm extends beyond its cocktails. Vintage football jerseys, framed photos of Italian pop icons, and a soundtrack featuring 70s Italo Disco and afrobeat create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. Staff dressed in white jackets and chinos move with polished ease, embodying the effortless elegance of Italy. With only 45 seats and no reservations, this watering hole on Bridges Street fills up quickly; yet once you’re inside, there’s no hurry to leave.
