The world-renowned coffee company recently commemorated its 500th store in Indonesia, as well as its 20th anniversary in the country.
On 24 August 2022, Starbucks commemorated the opening of its 500th store in Indonesia. Located on Jalan Gatsu Mudu Taki in North Kuta, Bali, the store is also the 55th drive-thru location in the country. The store opening was attended Starbucks’ group president for international and channel development, Michael Conway.
“Indonesia has played an important role in Starbucks heritage as one of the world’s leading coffee growing regions through today as we continue to deliver the iconic experience across the market,” said Conway. “Since entering the 10th market 20 years ago, Indonesia has become the largest market globally for Starbucks and we remain committed to serving more customers and communities for the long-term.”
The new store is inspired by Balinese architecture, highlighting wooden elements, locally inspired roofing, natural materials, vibrant rattan lighting and an artwork featuring a wood carving of Starbucks’ iconic siren, creating a local and authentic Starbucks Experience.
Starbucks opened its first store in Indonesia 20 years ago. The company has introduced many innovations since then, enhancing the guests’ experience every time. These innovations include drive-thru locations introduced in 2019; the elevated, coffee-forward Starbucks Reserve™ stores; the one-of-a-kind Starbucks Dewata Coffee Sanctuary with a bean-to-cup experience, and more.
Furthermore, Starbucks opened its first Community Store in 2020. Located in Tanah Abang, Jakarta, the centre aims to create educational opportunities for the youth in the neighbourhood.
