For one night only, 3rd June 2015, dynamic culinary duo, Chef Will Meyrick and Chef Wan, joined forces the kitchens of Mama San Bali for a truly sensational dinner.
This unique collaboration was a culinary match made in heaven: Chef Meyrick, author, restaurateur, celebrity TV chef and one of the most respected maestros on the Southeast Asian culinary scene and Malaysia’s Chef Wan, one of Asia’s most iconic celebrity chefs, TV host, author and Food Ambassador to Tourism Malaysia.
Mama San Bali invited Wan (visiting Bali for the inaugural Ubud Food Festival), to introduce Malay culinary heritage to Mama San’s diners, while Meyrick contributed Peranakan Nyonya dishes inspired by his recent travels across Indonesia’s North Sumatra and Malaysia’s Penang and Malacca.
This amazing dinner event, essentially celebrating the imminent opening of Mama San Kuala Lumpur (Meyrick’s latest venture), simultaneously featured an exclusive dinner party in Mama San’s stylish upper bar, with both chefs each contributing five dishes to the bespoke menu and a one-off dinner menu for Mama San patrons downstairs, showcasing a special array of Nyonya Peranakan dishes, which included Baba’s Nyonya Fish Head Curry.
Besides the mouth-watering dishes, washed down with Mama San’s fine cocktails, a heap of fun was had by the lucky attendees—and evidently, the chefs themselves!
