Bringing Basque heat to Jakarta, ERRE & Urrechu introduces a bold tasting menu that blends open-fire cooking with Spanish tradition. Each dish is prepared precisely from dry-aged ribeye to smoky octopus, offering a multi-sensory dining experience rooted in flavour and technique.
Jakarta’s dining landscape gains new depth with the arrival of ERRE & Urrechu Jakarta, the first Asian outlet of the acclaimed Spanish restaurant group. Officially opened in June 2025, this establishment introduces Basque-style live-fire dining in a dedicated space within Gran Meliá Jakarta. Led by Chef Iñigo Urrechu and locally helmed by Chef Alejandro Garcia Martín, the restaurant draws inspiration from centuries-old Spanish culinary traditions. It delivers them with a modern, bold approach.
Fire is central to the experience. The word “erre” in Basque means “to burn”, and that concept extends far beyond the open kitchen. Wood is carefully chosen to complement each ingredient, with jackfruit wood used for meats and fish, and tamarind wood for vegetables. This technique infuses the food with complex aromas, elevating natural flavours without overwhelming them.
The Tasting Menu is designed to give diners a complete understanding of ERRE’s culinary ethos. Served for at least two guests, the meal begins with imported oysters, fresh or gently grilled. It continues with a grilled avocado salad with cherry tomato confit and Manchego, followed by a light brioche filled with shredded crab and citrus mayo. The ribeye croquette, cooked three hours before serving, contrasts in texture and depth.
Among the highlights is the chuletón, a dry-aged Spanish ribeye grilled over jackfruit wood. Rarely available in Indonesia, this cut is imported exclusively and served with a signature smoky edge that balances richness and sweetness. Supporting dishes include grilled cauliflower with hollandaise, slow-roasted piquillo peppers, and charcoal-grilled octopus paired with creamy root vegetable purée.
Dessert brings a familiar yet elevated touch with Urrechurros, served with warm chocolate sauce. Guests also have the option of a wine pairing to complement the intensity and structure of the dishes.
Located at the lobby level of Gran Meliá Jakarta, ERRE & Urrechu stands as a culinary destination. This new opening adds a distinctive Spanish voice to the city’s evolving food culture, shaped through fire, technique and shared stories around the table.
