Apéritif Restaurant hosts a night of homage to Sumba Hospitality Foundation with a six-course dinner and curated cocktail pairing led by the training centre’s alumni, culminating in an auction for the foundation’s benefit.
Sumba may be known for its magnificent beaches, splendid waters, and sweeping views, but the island also hides many young talents, including those with culinary and mixology ingenuity. Apéritif Restaurant seeks to highlight this through Return to Roots: Sumba’s Story, Told in Ubud, a charity dinner that spotlights chefs and bartenders hailing from Sumba Hospitality Foundation.
At its home in Ubud’s Viceroy Bali, Apéritif Restaurant will host a six-course menu that tells a story of culinary heritage from the perspective of talented chefs from Sumba Hospitality Foundation who went on to work in Indonesia’s most acclaimed kitchens, including Syrco BASÈ, Locavore NXT, and its own. Adding to the evening’s delights are handcrafted cocktails from the Pinstripe Bar, manned by fellow alumni from the foundation. Concocted from the finest local ingredients, each drink captures the sweeping landscapes and rich traditions of the island.
The evening concludes with a silent auction. Prizes up for bidding range from stays and dining vouchers to experiences and spa packages from renowned resorts, restaurants and hospitality partners across Indonesia. 100% of the proceeds will benefit Sumba Hospitality Foundation. Based in the heart of East Nusa Tenggara, this vocational training centre is designed not only to educate young natives of the island, but also to bring responsible and sustainable tourism and community development to Sumba.
