A collaboration with Glenfiddich and artist Zhang Yu honours Chinese New Year with a fusion of art and whisky tradition.
Glenfiddich is marking the Chinese New Year on 29 January 2025 with a special collaboration alongside acclaimed contemporary artist Zhang Yu. Together, they’ve unveiled a limited-edition collection led by the Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva, with the lineup also featuring its 12, 15 and 18 Year Old whiskies. This release celebrates the blending of two rich cultural traditions, offering whisky enthusiasts a thoughtful way to honour moments of togetherness.
The collection reflects Glenfiddich’s journey in China, a relationship that has grown over 17 years by bridging Scotch whisky heritage with the sophistication of Eastern traditions. The theme “A Gift for Great Encounters” is at its core. It is inspired by the creative union of Glenfiddich’s iconic stag and the legendary Nine-Coloured Deer, a revered symbol of wisdom and harmony in Chinese folklore.
Zhang Yu, a master of ink painting, captures this concept beautifully through his unique artistic lens. Drawing inspiration from classic Chinese stories, his work blends traditional ink painting with a modern edge. His vibrant, intricate portrayal of the two stags meeting embodies the beauty of cultural fusion.
The Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva takes centre stage in the collection. It is finished in Caribbean rum casks and boasts a rich and complex flavour profile with ginger, fig, lime and toffee notes. Perfect for festive gatherings, this limited edition is now available at The Distillers Library Bumi Pakubuowono, Red & White nationwide and online at Minuman.com.
