E: What are your responsibilities?
A: Making sure that the day-to-day operation at the restaurant goes smoothly and creating the perfect formula to ensure the business is growing sustainably.
E: What makes a typical day?
A: My day usually starts very early in the morning when I wake up. Before going to work, I try to squeeze in a little time at the gym and take my son to school. Once I’m at the restaurant, I like to have a brief meeting with the team to review the service from the day before and go over what needs to be done for the day. After work, if it’s not too late, I try to relax at home by watching a movie with my family.
E: Who has been the most influential figure in your career to date?
A: My wife. She has been my number one supporter throughout my career and life. She always encourages me to do better each day, whether it’s in my professional or personal life.
E: Team player or team leader?
A: Oh, this is a very tricky question. I would say a team leader, just because in order to achieve bigger goals, someone needs to lead and guide the team so they can do their absolute best.
E: Name one thing that is special about your restaurant?
A: The characteristics and the ambience of the place. There are many great steakhouses in Bali, but what we strive for is the personalised service that everyone gets when they come to the restaurant. Serving great quality meats alone will not be the same if the customers don’t get the service that will last in their memories for a long time.
E: What is the most important trait to have in your work?
A: Commitment. If you want to be successful in this industry, you have to be committed to what you are doing. Knowing the goals and delivering them in a reasonable way so the company can grow as well. Having knowledge of what you are doing is also an essential part of the job. Being in the F&B industry is not just about serving great food, it’s also about knowing that giving an extra touch can go a long way.
E: What is the most memorable moment of your career?
A: Seeing the company grow, even after experiencing the horrible pandemic. Encouraging my team to always do their best in testing time like before was not easy, but they did it flawlessly.
E: Dead or alive, who would you like to take out to dinner?
A: Again, I would say my wife. She knows me inside and out, and without her support, I would not be where I am today.
