Chef Vicky Cheng, celebrated for his Michelin-starred VEA and WING, has unveiled an exciting new addition to Hong Kong’s dining scene. Located on Wellington Street in Central, directly across from the iconic Lin Heung Tea House, Medora is a casual western restaurant that blends European and American influences. The name, which translates to mother’s gift, captures the spirit of family warmth and giving, which are recurring themes throughout the meal. Departing from his fine dining roots, Chef Cheng has designed Medora to be a space where families and friends can connect over comforting, shareable dishes.
Guests can begin their meal with the USDA beef tartare, elevated with a smoked quail egg yolk, or the fresh shrimp cocktail, served with a housemade cocktail sauce. Comforting classics like French onion soup topped with Gougère croutons and baguette slices offer a soulful start, while the Mediterranean red prawn linguine entices with its rich, flavour-packed sauce. A highlight of the menu is the barbeque chicken, made with locally raised three-yellow chicken. No meal is complete without dessert. Savour the berries and cream, a dessert inspired by Chef Cheng’s childhood favourite sundae, topped with chewy mochi.
