The first-ever restaurant in Singapore to invite everyone to understand more about the food they eat and why they eat it.
Built in 2015, Open Farm Community (OFC) has always been the frontrunner in offering transformational opportunities for everyone to learn about food and the role it plays in a modern eco-system. Sitting on 35,000sqm of green land, OFC unites local farmers, creative chefs and an innovative spirit in a first-of-its-kind dining concept in Singapore. And to move forward with its commitment, OFC welcomed Head Chef Oliver Truesdale-Jutras and Sous chef Phoebe Oviedo into the team.
Before moving to Singapore, the chefs were already famous for running a roving pop-up restaurant, Stovetrotter. Both travelled to various places around the world, including France, Denmark, Morocco, Sri Lanka and Japan, taking over restaurants to showcase their culinary expertise with ingredients sourced only from the country in which they were located to show commitment to supporting the local scene and discovering little known local native ingredients and traditions.
In Singapore, both chefs are demonstrating OFC’s strong DNA by creating contemporary dishes using primarily locally sourced ingredients, including harvesting produce from OFC’s very own garden. The menu is always evolving as they discover more about Southeast Asia and Singapore have to offer.
At OFC, expect local flavours that have been tweaked for global palates. Enjoy an excellent selection of appetizers that feature a creative and refreshing take on local ingredients. For example, the Watermelon Wild Honey Salad is made with bite-sized chunks of watermelon drizzled in raw jungle honey harvested in Malaysia. While the mains options include Crab & Prawn Laksa Pappardelle, Japanese-inspired Barramundi or for a healthier version, try the Black Bean Strozzapreti – a dish that is made using black beans from Zenxin Organics in Malaysia, mushrooms from Kin Yan, organic tofu from Unicurd and sorrel from Edible Garden City in Singapore. No meal is complete without a dessert and the chefs’ creation of Singa’Smore is too good to pass up.
