The Godfather of classic cocktails, the Italian-born Negroni is today one of the world’s most indispensable tipples. It is often seen as a man’s drink; a serious drink; a drink only for those that truly appreciate the simplicity of a great tasting cocktail. But however you take it, a Negroni is of equal parts sweet and sour, and it seems there’s always a good time to enjoy one.

The History

The legend of the Negroni goes all the way back to Florence, Italy in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender to liven up his usual order of an Americano by replacing the soda water with gin. Bartender Fosco Scarselli did as he was asked, but to differentiate the new drink from a simple twist on the Americano, he added an orange twist to the cocktail instead of the Americano’s signature lemon. As such, the Negroni was officially born…
