Occupying a suave space on the ground floor of the RDTX Tower, Up In Smoke has been an ever-present haunt for Jakarta’s foodies and socialites since its inception in mid-2017. Famed for its tantalising smoked offerings as well as its heady potations, it is easy to see why the restaurant is packed in the evening come the weekend.
Cocktail aficionados will be pleased to learn that the restaurant has launched 12 exciting new cocktails, courtesy of Julian Decraene. Belying his tender age, French-born Julian Decraene is a veteran mixologist with stints in world famous bars in London, Singapore, and Jakarta.
A must-try cocktail is the Bourbon Espresso Martini. The exquisitely balanced martini boasts the punchiness of American bourbon married with a rich homemade coffee liqueur, paired with a side of caramel coffee jelly garnished with coconut flakes and dried strawberry slices. Our favourite is the Chocolate Manhattan – an amalgamation of bourbon, chocolate liqueur, cherry liqueur, orange juice and sweet vermouth paired with house-made dark coconut chocolate served in an elegant handcrafted teakwood cup.
