On 1st October, Will Meyrick hosted a very special dinner for invited guests and friends at Sarong showcasing San Pellegrino South Asian Young Chef of 2016, Tarun Bhatia, and his winning dish, the daab chingri, a Bengali curry with fresh prawns in a malai curry puree. Having secured the South Asian title, Tarun Bhatia will now travel to Milan, accompanied by Will, to join the competition to be named San Pellegrino Young Global Chef of the Year.
“I am thrilled to be representing not only India but Southeast Asia and competing with the world’s best young chefs,” said Chef Tarun Bhatia. “The bigger challenge is waiting in Milan, but I guess the bigger the challenge the better you get. A humble Indian curry can go a long way and I think it’s just the beginning.”
The Sarong Group is delighted to be a part of the mentoring and support of Tarun’s professional journey and to have such a special partnership with San Pellegrino.
