Produced by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), Saga R Bordeaux is built on the idea of balance. Drawing from both the Right Bank and Left Bank, the range reflects Bordeaux’s classic grape structure while remaining approachable for modern drinking.
Bordeaux is not built on trends. It is a region anchored in legacy, shaped by generations of growers, blenders, and merchants who understand that consistency and balance matter more than spectacle. Saga R Bordeaux Rouge, from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), draws from this heritage to present a wine that honours tradition while embracing a contemporary sensibility.
The “R” pays homage to Rive Droite and Rive Gauche, the Right and Left Banks that define Bordeaux’s topography and taste. Merlot grown in clay-limestone soils brings richness and softness, while Cabernet Sauvignon cultivated on gravel imparts freshness and backbone. The grapes are primarily sourced from Entre-deux-Mers, an area framed by the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, prized for its diversity and reliability.
Saga R Bordeaux Rouge blends Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon to create a medium-bodied red that speaks with clarity. Rather than leaning on oak, it lets the fruit lead. Red and dark berries unfold with gentle acidity and soft tannins, offering a wine equally suited to casual dinners or refined menus.
Saga R Bordeaux Blanc takes a different path, led by Sauvignon Blanc with a supporting note of Sémillon. Grown in limestone-rich soils, the grapes develop vibrant citrus and stone fruit characters. A touch of lees ageing adds texture without dulling the freshness. This is a white wine made for seafood, crisp salads, or an afternoon with cheese and conversation.

The collection expands further to include appellation-specific expressions such as Saga R Médoc, Saga R Saint-Émilion, and Saga R Pauillac. Each vintage carries the imprint of its season while remaining loyal to the house style.
Saga R is not about ceremony. It is a wine made for the table, adaptable to everyday meals and elevated moments alike. Its poise allows it to pair effortlessly with roast chicken, duck, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, or hard cheeses.
Best enjoyed between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, Saga R can be appreciated young or cellared briefly for added complexity. In every glass, it tells a quiet story of Bordeaux: a region that continues to find elegance in restraint and legacy in the details.
