Sensory Dinner

Sensory Dinner

After a highly successful launch, The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa is bringing back its Dine in the Dark event, where guests are invited on an extraordinary experience dining on a six-course degustation dinner in complete darkness.

When people eat, the first thing that makes them decide whether the food is good or not is seeing it for the first time on the plate. Visualisation plays a big part in the culinary world; even highly trained chefs take courses solely focused on plating to make food look more appealing to the eyes. But what if you were given a chance to dine in complete darkness?

The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa is giving food connoisseurs who missed out on the first Dine in the Dark event another chance to experience this unusual dinner. This rare experience will be held on 12 July and 16 August to bring guests a fascinating insight into a world that we sometimes take for granted.

Helmed by Executive Chef Joshua Job, the six-course degustation menu has been thoughtfully designed to focus on texture, aroma and flavour. A wine-pairing option is available for those who want to enhance the dining experience to another level.

The dine in the dark dinner can be booked at any time, with prior reservation, and a percentage of the proceeds from all the events goes to the John Fawcett Foundation, a non-profit organisation that assists the needy in Indonesia, particularly in the field of sight restoration and blindness prevention.
