A new omakase experience by renowned chef Vanne Kuwahara, featuring premium wagyu and refined craftsmanship, arrives in the heart of the city.
Jakarta’s Japanese dining scene is ever-evolving, and the latest addition, Nikuzen, is set to redefine the omakase experience in the city. Opening its doors on 12 February 2025, this highly anticipated restaurant occupies the 13th floor of Mori Tower in Central Jakarta, offering a sophisticated take on Japanese cuisine with a particular focus on premium wagyu.
Behind Nikuzen is Vanne Kuwahara, a name well-known in the culinary world for his expertise in elevating the wagyu dining experience. Having built a strong reputation through the success of Yoroniku in Tokyo, Kuwahara now introduces his culinary philosophy to Jakarta, combining precision, tradition and innovation into every dish.
The omakase menu at Nikuzen is centred around wagyu sourced directly from Japan’s top suppliers. Each cut is carefully selected and prepared using specialised techniques, ensuring depth of flavour and the perfect texture. Diners can expect a progression of dishes that highlight the natural richness of the beef, enhanced by subtle seasonings and expert grilling methods.
Among the standout selections is its special cut, featuring silky loin, Chateaubriand, and sirloin ponzu during our visit there. The sandwich, in particular, melts in the mouth, delivering an irresistibly rich and satisfying bite. Another highlight is the truffle Zabuton sukiyaki, an indulgent dish that comforts the palate while bursting with deep, layered flavours. For a refreshing end to the meal, the kakigori offers a delicately shaved ice dessert that is light and airy, with a perfect balance of sweetness. Served on a cold plate, the experience is further elevated as the ice remains crisp and refreshing throughout.
The setting at Nikuzen is designed to match the excellence of its cuisine. The interiors reflect a balance between Japanese minimalism and contemporary comfort, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and refined. With a private dining area and an exclusive counter seating arrangement, the space allows guests to appreciate the artistry behind each course fully.
This restaurant’s arrival marks an exciting milestone for Jakarta’s Japanese dining landscape. With Kuwahara’s expertise and a commitment to top-tier ingredients, the restaurant is poised to become a sought-after destination for those looking to experience Japanese cuisine at its finest. Regardless of whether you’re a die-hard wagyu fan or solely desire to try something new, Nikuzen offers a dining experience influenced by tradition and talent.
As Jakarta welcomes this new addition, Nikuzen sets the stage for a fresh perspective on Japanese gastronomy that celebrates quality and craftsmanship in every bite.
