Drawing on decades of culinary discovery, Christina Ong shares a heartfelt collection of recipes inspired by family, travel, and tradition. COMO Simple invites food lovers to rediscover the beauty of honest flavours and shared moments.
In the heart of Jakarta, COMO Hotels and Resorts introduced a new chapter in its culinary story with the launch of COMO Simple. More than just a cookbook, it captures the spirit of Christina Ong’s lifelong connection to food, a bond shaped by the kitchens of her childhood in Singapore and her many adventures across the world through fashion and hospitality.
Her journey started in 1993 when The Halkin opened in London and quickly made history with a Michelin star for its Italian restaurant, the first awarded to an Italian chef outside Italy. Since then, the COMO brand has grown to include 18 properties worldwide, a culinary network spanning Burgundy to Bhutan. Collaborations with renowned chefs such as Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Massimo Bottura, and Malcolm Lee have helped define a style of cooking that prizes authenticity, warmth and a sense of place.
COMO Simple draws from these rich experiences, offering a collection of dishes that feel familiar and full of discovery. Among its pages are South Indian curries perfected at COMO’s Maldives resorts, Balinese nasi goreng, Tuscan pasta, lobster biryani and Chef Malcolm Lee’s delicate crab and pork ball soup. Every recipe is designed for real kitchens and real gatherings, celebrating a love of fresh ingredients, traditions, and heartfelt moments shared over food.
To launch the book in Indonesia, COMO partnered with MODENA Culinaria, a platform that brings food lovers closer to the world of professional kitchens. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of cooking demonstrations with COMO’s VP of Culinary, Daniel Moran, and Michelin-starred Chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro, who brought the cookbook’s recipes to life with ease and energy. COMO Simple is available at COMO Uma Canggu, COMO Uma Ubud and COMO Shambhala Estate.
