E: How did you first get into the film industry?
A: In the beginning, around 15 years ago, I was very active in the theatre industry. That was when I fell in love with performing arts and decided to get into films. Coincidentally, around that time, Indonesia’s film industry was on the rise, so I went ahead to channel my passion for acting and got into films.

E: You have played many interesting characters in successful movies. How do you choose the roles you want to play?
A:
Usually, it’s the story plot and the people involved in a project that attracted me to it. If the project has a great story and a great production team, I would instantly be interested in joining, regardless of the role. That said, I’m always happy to get the roles that I’ve never played before to challenge myself and hone my skills in acting.

E: What’s your key in time management between family and work?
A:
I always prioritise my child and family, while still focusing on my career although it might not be on the same scale as I used to. Now I’m more selective of my work, I choose projects that still allow me to spend quality time with my family.

E: Is there any upcoming project that you can share with us?
A: There’s a film that is shot in Indonesia and Italy about family and sports, but I can’t give away more details than that. In addition, in March or April this year, I will be having a film coming out titled Tulang Belulang Tulang. It’s a family comedy about a Bataknese family taking a road trip, focusing on a universal theme of generational differences between parents and children. It will be very interesting to watch. I have another movie coming up titled Parcel, an Indonesian-Malaysian-produced horror film.

E: As a public figure with many fans and followers, how do you use your influence to bring a positive impact to them?
A:
I’m definitely not perfect, and I don’t want to fake it, but I try to share my positive habits or other positive aspects of my life with my fans – be it through my work, discussion, social media and more.

E: What advice would you give to the new generation that wants to get into the film industry?
A: Learn as much as you can about acting from anywhere, be it from analysing textbooks or from watching as many movies as you can. There will always be something to learn from, so don’t stop.
