In every conversation about Chinese dining in Bali, chances are the name Golden Lotus will come up. The sophisticated Chinese restaurant has been a big favourite for years, thanks to its traditional Chinese design and arguably unrivalled cuisine. Just recently, Golden Lotus underwent a refurbishment, resulting in a more vibrant take on the classic interior, with an elegant combination of red and gold and delicate details.
The menu offers premium Cantonese and Szechuan fares in addition to the famous dim sum lunches. Golden Lotus also offers special, seasonal menus around four times a year – something that regulars always look forward to. Plus, this Chinese New Year will see special culinary offers at the restaurant, like the mandatory yee sang dish.
The prosperity-inspired dish comprises thinly sliced carrots, shredded yam, pickles, white sesame, chopped peanuts, mandarin orange leaves, spring onions, regular onions, sweet potatoes and salmon fish fillet, all mixed and seasoned with Chinese spices and Golden Lotus’ special sauce. Golden Lotus offers three different yee sang portions, to cater to different kinds of diner groups.
Besides the yee sang, a special Chinese New Year set menu named Hong Wan Salmon Yee Sang is available to enhance the celebration, with dishes like yee sang salad, chicken, duck, fish and prawn dishes, complete with vegetables and rice, soups and sweet glutinous rice balls. All the Chinese New Year promotions will run from 9th February to 3rd March, with a special barongsai and Chinese duo performance on the 15th and 16th February, respectively.
