One of Kuta’s popular hot spots is Jamie’s Italian Kuta Beach, a welcoming, rustic diner with something for everyone. A partnership between respected food activist and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his Italian mentor, chef Gennaro Contaldo, the menus here offer simple family-style Italian food, cooked from scratch with the highest quality ingredients.
Driven by Jamie’s absolute dedication to sustainable, organic ingredients, the restaurant’s food suppliers are carefully selected and the ever-evolving menu is packed with delectable dishes.
Jamie is renowned for his signature antipasti planks for the table to share and here they come with a lusciously mouthwatering vegetable focus or crispy, cured fish. Meanwhile, olive lovers are sure to be happy to see the new mammoth green olives on ice served with a rich black olive tapenade and crispy music bread, as well as other favourites, including the oozy ham and cheese croquettes.
A new addition to the freshly made pasta menu is the hearty sausage ravioli in a cherry tomato and black olive sauce with bronze fennel and aged parmesan, while the gnocchi now comes with Jamie’s herby almond pesto for a Genovese touch.
On the meat side, the steak tagliata is a refreshing dish zinging with flavour that sees flash-cooked Australian rib-eye served with a drizzle of balsamic and olive oil served with rocket, slow-roasted tomatoes and parmesan, or go for the even heartier 11oz rib-eye steak served with either creamy porcini sauce, herby garlic butter or balsamic onions.
Another not-to-be-missed dish is Gennaro’s Porchetta where Balinese pork belly is stuffed with apricot and sage; however, if something a little lighter is more your style, the pan-roasted salmon fillet is a delightful choice with crunchy fennel, shaved onions, herb salad and garlic mayo.
Of course, being a rustic Italian restaurant, the pizzas are perfection, all created with hand-stretched artisan dough. Try the new mortadella with a bianco base, organic pork pistachio mortadella, fresh mozzarella and mixed nuts, or grab Jool’s favourite turbo-charged Margherita-style pizza, The Julietta. Kids have their own menu, all cooked purely from the freshest ingredients with no added sugar or anything to upset delicate digestions.
There are plenty of temptations at Jamie’s Italian ideal for sharing in true Italian style so that you get a little bit of everything, and this is the perfect solution when it comes to dessert and you just can’t choose between the chocolate caramel popcorn sundae, panna cotta, raspberry pavlova or the new silky lemon and ricotta cheesecake, or the other delights to be had.
An extensive drinks menu – and a bar downstairs – offers excellent coffee, house-made limoncello, ice-cold beers and more, so whether you want a filling meal or a drink with some light bites, you are sure to be happy. The covered outdoor terrace is ideal for people watching, while upstairs guests can enjoy their meal in air-conditioned comfort.
