Renatta Moeloek: Redefining Culinary Innovation with Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club

The culinary Maverick shares her journey of passion, innovation and resilience, inspiring others to ask, “Where Next?”

Glenfiddich, The World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, has consistently attracted exceptional individuals who embody both innovation and tradition. These inspiring and boundary-pushing individuals, known as Mavericks, have shared their stories through Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club.

One of the latest Mavericks of the Where Next Club is Renatta Moeloek, a well-known culinary entrepreneur. The prominent culinary entrepreneur and one of the few female culinary leaders in Indonesia has consistently enriched the nation’s culinary landscape with her artistry, passion, and resilience. Through her innovative approach and deep connection to Indonesian cuisine, she crafts dishes that tell stories and forge connections. The values, journey and history forged through her hard work and dedication align perfectly with the spirit of Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club.

From the start, Renatta saw cooking as something more than just a job. It was a way to express her creativity, like a musician composing a song, turning simple ingredients into a masterpiece that brought people together. This creative spark drew her into the culinary world and her passion for it has only grown stronger over the years. She believes in the power of food to connect people, break down barriers and create shared memories. “When I eat a dish I loved as a child, it often brings back the whole scene—where I was, who I was with, how I felt at that specific moment. Every Indonesian family has its list of favourite dishes and those will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

Her culinary journey has been shaped by a mix of Indonesian and international experiences. It wasn’t a single event that set her on this path, but rather a series of adventures where she explored new cultures, shared meals and always learnt something new. For her, the life of a chef and culinary entrepreneur is a never-ending adventure, filled with opportunities to discover and grow.

What does it take to be a successful female chef in a male-dominated industry? She’s faced her fair share of stereotypes and stigmas. However, she always kept a positive outlook and surrounded herself with people who appreciated her talent. “I’ve faced some minor discrimination and stereotypes. But I always try to take it lightly. Even men face discrimination for other reasons if not gender.”

Juggling a high-pressure career as a chef, running a successful business, and being in the spotlight is no easy task. Yet, Renatta Moeloek makes it look effortless. As a culinary entrepreneur, former judge, and chef, she’s a force to be reckoned with—a passionate, resilient, and incredibly dedicated individual. Her journey inspires others to chase their dreams, no matter how challenging the path. This makes her a perfect fit for Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club, which celebrates those who push boundaries and aspire to new heights.

One time, I went from cargo pants and sweaty kitchen attire to red-carpet glam in a public restroom in 15 minutes, then changed again for a professional evening meeting, and back to kitchen-friendly clothes at night to finish what I prepped that morning. I carry my tablet everywhere and work from the oddest places. How do I balance it all? I guess you just keep trying.

Looking back on her journey, Renatta  shares valuable advice for aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs, a message that aligns perfectly with the values of Glenfiddich’s Where Next Club. “I’d tell my younger self that you’ll have way more time as an adult than you realize. Experience everything—good and bad. Even bad experiences are valuable. Make your own mistakes and always keep moving forward.
