Jakarta’s first Irori-style steakhouse begins its third year with a milestone. Soichiro introduces Soichiro Wagyu, a Halal-certified beef brand served exclusively at its SCBD restaurant, reaffirming its reputation for blending Japanese heritage with bold innovation.
When Soichiro Irori Style Japanese Steakhouse opened at 18 Parc, SCBD in 2023, it promised something unfamiliar to Jakarta: the authentic Irori cooking method, a centuries-old Japanese technique rarely seen outside its homeland. In just two years, that promise has grown into a dining experience that blends tradition with originality, drawing attention from guests eager for something different.
At the centre of it all is Executive Chef Soichiro Hieda, whose name now carries as much weight as the restaurant itself. His creations have become conversation starters. The Matcha Misuji, an A5 cut dusted with fine matcha powder, quickly earned praise for its surprising harmony of flavours. Soon after, the Black Truffle Hire, launched in 2024, followed suit, winning diners with its deep umami and lingering aroma. These dishes set the tone for Soichiro’s reputation as a steakhouse unafraid to innovate while firmly grounded in authenticity.
Equally important is the restaurant’s Seasonal Omakase, a rotating menu that shifts each month to reflect Japan’s seasonal bounty. For regulars, it is an invitation to experience something new with every visit. For first-timers, it is a window into the philosophy of a chef who respects rhythm, season and place.
The newest milestone, however, pushes the restaurant further into uncharted territory. This year marks Soichiro Wagyu’s debut, a proprietary beef brand served exclusively in Jakarta. Beyond the prestige of carrying the restaurant’s name, it is also Halal-certified, produced with practices that make it accessible to a broader audience while maintaining uncompromised flavour and quality.
Now stepping into its third year, Soichiro continues to shape Jakarta’s fine dining landscape with a clear vision: to honour Japanese heritage while expanding its possibilities. Each menu, each plate and each carefully considered detail underscores that mission. Reservations remain the best way to secure a seat at one of the city’s most distinctive tables.
