Bali’s culinary scene was even more buzzing than ever with the Ubud Food Festival from 12th to 14th May. Even before the main event started, the fringe events of the Ubud Food Festival all over Bali had tickled culinary enthusiasts’ fancy – one of which was the utterly appetising collaboration between Starfish Bloo and the Ubud Food Festival called A Feast of Fruits de Mer on 3rd May. Michelin star-trained Chef Ashley Garvey from the beachfront restaurant at W Bali – Seminyak worked his magic to serve intrigued guests two of the most sought-after crustaceans: crabs and lobsters. Diners were delighted with exquisite dishes like Balinese soft shell crab, Alaskan king crab dumpling served with confit salmon and spiced coconut and corn, Chinese steamed rock lobster with ginger and black pepper sauce and fried doughnuts and more. Ashley even invited guests (and basically everyone) to take a peek at what was going on in the kitchen by broadcasting via InstaLive feed on Instagram during the dinner.
