The History
The legend of the Negroni goes all the way back to Florence, Italy in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender to liven up his usual order of an Americano by replacing the soda water with gin. Bartender Fosco Scarselli did as he was asked, but to differentiate the new drink from a simple twist on the Americano, he added an orange twist to the cocktail instead of the Americano’s signature lemon.
