Brunch lovers will be pleased to know that famed café Sisterfields from Bali has opened its maiden outlet in Jakarta. Reputed to be one of the best brunch spots in Bali, visitors can expect snaking queues and a scandalous waiting list, yet we can safely say that the food is well worth the wait.
The space is inspired by Melbournian design elements – bright airy interiors with exposed ceilings, minimalist wood-panel sidings, swathes of environmentally conscious green walls, brushed metal accoutrements as well as handsome stretches of marble counters and bars. The dining area boasts a variety of seating, a nod to the typical Melbourne metropolitan cafes that cater to each and every kind of clientele from all walks of life. Everything is made in-house, from smoked salmon, pickled beetroot and the marinades for the various slow-cooked meats, which explains the one-of-a-kind dining experience that the restaurant is famous for. For diners looking for more health-conscious alternatives, try the crispy skin salmon. The salmon skin is pan-fried to crisp perfection and finished off in the oven, the result is a perfectly-cooked moist and juicy delicious masterpiece, accompanied by poached eggs and salad with olive oil dressing. Our favourite is the pork ribs – marinated in a tantalising sauce, the pork ribs are slow-cooked sous vide for 48 hours, which explains the depth of flavours. Chocolate lovers will love the chocolate cherry cake – the classic pairing is a sinful delight of dark chocolate and candied cherries. We recommend the vanilla rose cake, which uses real vanilla seeds scraped fresh from imported Madagascar vanilla pods. Layers of fluffy vanilla cake are finished off with delightful icing reminiscent of ice-cream, topped with droplets of rosewater syrup. The coffee is roasted by Sibling Roastery, a heady blend using only the finest locally sourced Balinese beans.
