Daiquiri
at CJ’s Bar, Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta
Named after a beach in Santiago, the original Daiquiri was invented by Jennings Cox in Cuba around 1900. It rapidly gained popularity and as it spread, it evolved. Introduced to the USA in 1909, by the 1940s the Frozen Daiquiri had replaced the classic at the top of the list. Today the Daiquiri continues to be an extremely popular cocktail and one that that is constantly reinvented by bartenders all over the world. Muddle the strawberries in a shaker before adding premium white rum, strawberry juice and Triple Sec. Shake well before double straining into a chilled classic martini glass – garnish with a whole strawberry and serve immediately. For cocktail purists, the Daiquiri represents the near perfect drink. Simple, elegant and refreshing, it sits alongside drinks like the Manhattan and Martini as cocktails that truly reflect the character of their base spirits and CJ’s scrumptious Strawberry Daiquiri is no exception.
