Italy is known for its love of indulgent desserts and sweet treats, like irresistible cannoli, zabaglione with berries and, of course, the delights of gelato. There are also many celebratory cakes, like pastiera Napoletana, which must be made by Good Friday so that is perfect for Easter Sunday. But perhaps the best-known dessert, however, is tiramisu, the pick me up offering creamy richness, coffee and cocoa.
