Reviving History in Delicious Fashion

The Apurva Kempinski Bali uses handed-down methods to commemorate the cooking of generations past.

In collaboration with Javara Indonesia, The Apurva Kempinski Bali is thrilled to pay tribute to the Majapahit Kingdom with the presentation of the Majapahit Imperial Dining. The culinary journey, presented in celebration of Powerful Indonesia, binds the relationship between people and nature, promoting biodiversity, diverse flavours and abundant resources. The dining occasion promises an entertaining experience, containing artisanal sustainable decorations and an enchanting dramatical dance performance to elevate the magical journey that transcends time. Having started in late October, the collaboration continues proudly at the resort’s Culinary Concierge, offering a sensational evening for everyone involved.

Renowned for its extravagant banquets and feasts, The Majapahit Empire made its name for crafting a series of worldwide cuisines, such as Indonesian, Indian, Arab and Chinese. Thriving from the late 13ᵗʰ to early 16ᵗʰ centuries, the kingdom remains celebrated today for its advanced agricultural operations, namely its variety of growing techniques. With food preservation being a much more prominent intention for The Majapahit Empire, modern cooking practises still have plenty to learn from the era.

Not many destinations value the art of sustainability more than The Apurva Kempinski Bali, as they, together with Javara Indonesia, remain committed to preserving and promoting the nation’s rich culinary heritage. For Majapahit Imperial Dining, delicacies on offer have been sourced from local farms and fishermen for a culinary celebration that gives back to its roots.

Vincent Guironnet, the General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, had the following to say about the experience:

“We are thrilled to present ‘Majapahit Imperial Dining’ at The Apurva Kempinski Bali. This culinary journey is a testament to our commitment to preserving and honouring Indonesia’s cultural legacy. Our heartfelt gratitude to our key partners who have similar visions towards preserving Indonesia’s culture and heritage. Through this programme, we invite guests to indulge in a memorable experience that combines history, flavours and traditions while savouring the essence of Indonesia’s past elevated with unique performances. Moving forward, showcasing and preserving Indonesia’s biodiversity will continue to be part of guest experiences throughout the resort.”
