Bali Mary
at The St. Regis Bali Resort
Known worldwide as a miraculous cure for the dreaded hangover (thanks to its spicy flavours, vitamin-rich ingredients and smooth, stomach-satisfying texture), the Bloody Mary needs no introduction as a signature cocktail. However, some mixologists have taken this traditional recipe and turned it into something even greater, something that doesn’t need to be reserved for the morning after the night before. Cue, the Bali Mary at The St. Regis Bali Resort. Staying true to its roots, the Bali Mary is served at the King Cole Bar where the Bloody Mary was first invented in 1934 at The St. Regis New York, however, this version comes with a tropical Balinese twist. This delicious interpretation uses jicama, a traditional favourite fruit in Indonesia, muddled together with cucumber, brown sugar, tomato juice, lemon, a variety of spices and a healthy dose of Absolute Pepper, served in an elegant Champagne glass and garnished with fresh local celery and a cherry tomato. It’s undoubtedly similar to a Bloody Mary, complete with an addictive spiciness, slight tang and it even delivers the same reviving effects, but we’d go as far to say that this version is even better than the original.
