The Library
The Library is Singapore’s off-the-wall spot to enjoy a cocktail in the city. It takes its design inspiration, including some interesting serving methods, from the countless places where alcohol was sold secretly in the USA during the Prohibition. Traditional glasses are replaced by copper mugs, beakers and, in one case, in a mini bath tub. Bartender Nicholas Quattroville sees cocktail drinking as fun and his menu and serving style reflects his unique tongue-in-cheek attitude. Some of the names are a simple play on words – the Rye ‘n’ Air makes fun out of the airline with a Rye Whisky and sweet vermouth blend – but others are a bit more quirky. The fabulous Plants vs Zombies is a blend of walnut-infused rums, coconut rum, Wray & Nephew, absinthe, bitters with peas, mint, basil syrup, fresh watermelon and fresh lemon. It takes its inspiration and most ingredients from its name, making it an intriguing but fabulous mix that’s bursting with freshness and flavour.
