Summerlong brings a tropical touch to the Robertson Quay neighbourhood with fresh ingredients and a chilled attitude.
Bringing breezy beachside vibes to the riverside of Robertson Quay is the aptly named Summerlong. With its white palette and a touch of light wood and rustic details, it’s easy to imagine a beach in the vicinity. The relaxed ambience carries an unassuming attitude, making Summerlong a great destination to have a good meal and a good time.
Summerlong is known and loved for serving delicious food, focusing on fresh ingredients and tasty, vibrant flavours. Chef Kyle Michael Henderson recently launched the culinary team’s latest creations in the brunch menu. Continuing his key points in fresh ingredients, Kyle emphasises nutritionally nurturing produce and ingredients, while at the same time making sure that the dishes are as appetisingly flavourful as they are beneficial.
Guests will be spoiled by the wide selection of hearty meals, like the fulfilling Real Turkish Breakfast. This dish is reminiscent of the exotic shores of Turkey, comprising spiced merguez sausage, Turkish beans and a cucumber and tomato salad on the side. Adding textures and flavours are the Turkish eggs in a warm yoghurt and chilli-spiced browned butter, along with condiments like spinach and feta borek, sour cherry jam, harissa, honey ricotta, cured beef, labneh, smoked olives, mandarin orange and feta cheese.
Another hearty choice is the Shakshuka, with baked eggs cooked to perfection, enhanced with a sweet hint of rich tomato ragout, while the merguez sausage adds a smoky spicy note. Soft feta cheese and toasted sourdough complete the punching dish. Meanwhile, the whole grilled avocado on sourdough is the perfect epitome of brunch food, with a generous serving of Meredith feta goat cheese, lemon and garlic breadcrumbs, pickled fennel and sunny side up egg on top of a whole charcoal-grilled avocado.
The health-conscious will be overjoyed to discover the haloumi and herb grain bowl, consisting of mixed grains, grilled haloumi, carrots cooked in honey and cumin seed, sliced avocado, herb salad and fennel pickled in grain vinegar. For an ultimate brunch feel, opt for the additional sous-vide soft egg to top it off.
For a buffet experience, Summerlong has introduced The Counter selection, brimming with salads, grains and house-baked treats. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the dishes are made with fresh seasonal ingredients and highlights include charcoal-grilled eggplant with yoghurt, chilli and herb dressing, steamed miso broccoli with garlic, green chilli and white wine dressing, and roasted pumpkin with tahini lemon dressing, caramelised onions and pumpkin seeds and chopped herbs.
The food is not the only thing that will agree with your palate, as the beverage selection is just as tasty and refreshing. Healthy juices and smoothies, like the mixed berries or the mango and peach, add a tropical touch to the whole experience. Summerlong also offers its famous milkshakes, homemade kombucha and zesty tipples, like the Cucumber Gin Remedy, Aperol Spritz and Pimm’s Summer Lemonade.
