Enjoy a year-long culinary adventure through Balinese flavours at the trendiest retreat in Canggu.
COMO Uma Canggu is launching the COMO Culinary Odyssey, a year-long exploration of Bali’s diverse culinary heritage. This immersive programme invites guests to experience the island’s rich gastronomic traditions, with each edition focusing on the flavours of a different region. From the mountainous area of Bangli to the coastal delights of Buleleng, this culinary journey celebrates authentic dishes, locally sourced ingredients, and Bali’s deep-rooted culture.
The journey commences with the Bangli Edition, running from 7 February to 31 March 2025. This inaugural chapter is a heartfelt tribute to the hometown of COMO Uma Canggu’s Executive Chef, Kadek Sugiantara. Inspired by the flavours of his childhood, Chef Sugiantara has curated a menu that captures the essence of Bangli, presenting time-honoured recipes in the refined setting of COMO Beach Club.
Among the standout dishes is Loloh Cemcem, a refreshing herbal drink known for its health benefits, followed by Mujair Nyat Nyat, a freshwater fish dish infused with a rich blend of Balinese spices. Guests can also enjoy Betutu Keren khas Bangli, a slow-cooked spiced chicken steeped in tradition, and Jaje Abug, a delicate dessert made from rice flour and palm sugar that pays homage to Bali’s classic sweets. Each dish is crafted with precision, utilising traditional cooking techniques and the finest local ingredients to preserve its authenticity.
“Bangli holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I grew up,” shares Chef Sugiantara. “Through this menu, I want to bring the flavours of my hometown to life, offering guests a taste of Bali’s heritage with every bite. This initiative allows us to showcase Bangli’s culinary traditions while presenting them in a contemporary dining experience.”
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of COMO Uma Canggu, guests can savour these unique flavours while appreciating the cultural and natural beauty that Bangli embodies. Deeply entwined with Bali’s agricultural and spiritual traditions, the area is home to the magnificent Mount Batur and Lake Batur, which has been designated a UNESCO Global Geopark. The influence of the Bali Aga culture, with its ancient customs and ceremonies, further enhances the authenticity of this experience.
The Bangli Edition set menu is available for lunch and dinner at COMO Beach Club, priced at IDR485,000++ per person. Guests eager to embark on this culinary adventure can secure their reservations by contacting dining.uma.canggu@comohotels.com or via WhatsApp at (+62) 81138209418.
