A refined World Environment Day experience showcasing the intersection of sustainability, local sourcing and purposeful hospitality.
Marking World Environment Day, Nothing Wasted transformed discussions around food waste into an immersive culinary experience that blended sustainability, storytelling and contemporary dining. Curated by Wonderspace in collaboration with the Bali Restaurant & Café Association (Bali RCA), the event took place at Terra Verte Restaurant on 5 June, bringing together hospitality leaders, sustainability advocates and culinary innovators.
Rather than addressing environmental concerns through conventional seminars, the initiative invited guests to engage with the subject through a thoughtfully curated programme of dialogue and dining. Representatives from Bali RCA, Magi Farm, Urban Compost, Eco Tourism Bali and Revivo Wellness Resort shared insights into sustainable food systems and the future of conscious hospitality, while Youthtopia presented an interactive installation exploring the environmental impact of food waste.
The evening culminated in a refined zero-waste dinner created by Chef Armen, who showcased how often-overlooked ingredients can be transformed into sophisticated dishes through creativity and craftsmanship. A standout was the Roasted Pumpkin, a dish that utilised every part of the ingredient—from skin and flesh to seeds—demonstrating the principles of true zero-waste cooking without compromising on flavour or presentation.
Paired with a selection of wines from Dimatique Fine Wines, the dining experience reflected a growing movement within Bali’s hospitality landscape towards more thoughtful and regenerative practices. More than a one-night event, Nothing Wasted highlighted how gastronomy, sustainability and culture can intersect to create experiences that are both meaningful and memorable, offering a glimpse into the future of conscious luxury hospitality.
