It is the first beach club in the popular holiday destination of Legian and is already gaining a great reputation with the cocktail and beer-loving sun-down set, who are drawn to the glorious western coast where chill out music blends with the smoky aromas wafting from the pizza oven and the corn and satay being cooked on beach, all melding to create a delightful Bali sunset vibe.
S.K.A.I. features a smart infinity pool framed by palm trees with broad parasol-shaded loungers. The main bistro-style restaurant has open, under cover and air-conditioned seating options. The bar area is dominated by a huge Balinese wall painting and, like the dining areas, comes decked out with a variety of informally placed tables and chairs.
The relaxed concept eases into the food and drinks menu showcased in a variety of all day options. For sharing, highly recommended comes the fat and juicy grilled Italian & chorizo sausages served on potato puree with chilli pecorino, or for seafood lovers why not try the salt and pepper baby squid, or maybe the tequila ceviche of salmon and scallop is more your thing?
Add to this specific lunch and dinner menus that feature a large selection of inspirational delights, such as the 24-hour braised beef shortrib and oxtail risotto, or the famous satay Jimbaran – skewers of king prawn, calamari and snapper marinated in Balinese spices and served with rice, chilli sauce and Balinese vegetables for a taste of authentic local cuisine.
The collection of drinks is quite astonishing too with, of course, the minus 2°C beer – the coldest beer in Legian – being a huge favourite. But there’s a great selection of classic and innovative cocktails and mocktails, juices and “sun-gria” to choose from, with the sharing theme making many available by the glass, bucket or carafe.
The super family-friendly S.K.A.I. Beach Club is a marvellous place to relax through the day and is unsurprisingly popular in the early evening. The food menu is a perfect blend of sharing foods and light bites, with Italian-inspired offerings from the grill and pizza oven being something of a speciality.
