Set in the heart of Kuta, overlooking its busy main street, is Kunyit restaurant at The ANVAYA Beach Resort Bali. The décor at this welcoming venue draws on Bali’s ancient Aga period for inspiration and the menu celebrates Balinese cuisine in a way that everyone can enjoy, while retaining its authenticity – right down to the ceremonial hand-washing at the table.

While the signature dish here is the megibung – a traditional multi-course, family-style shared meal – there is also an excellent à la carte menu with a delicious range of seafood dishes. There are two excellent choices of mixed seafood: a grilled platter of prawn, fish fillet and squid, and a similar choice, but fried. Further choices are all-Bali classics; Sate Lilit Ikan – the traditional Balinese white fish satay, Udang Bakar – the ubiquitous grilled river prawns in spicy, sweet sauce and the famed Ikan Bakar Jimbaran, Kunyit’s take on Jimbaran-style grilled fish, as well as a fabulous prawn laksa. There are plenty of non-seafood dishes on the menu, as well as some delicious deserts, making Kunyit a good choice when in Kuta.
