Chef Petty Elliott is a passionate culinary expert who believes in using authentic Indonesian ingredients and modern cooking techniques to create her innovative delicacies. She is also a strong believer in modern Indonesian cuisine and is always looking for opportunities to promote regional Indonesian food overseas. Regarding this, Chef Elliott remarked that “regional Indonesia cuisine has the potential to be one of the greatest cuisines in the world, thanks to its rich heritage that dates back to the days when Indonesia was the spice capital of the world.”

As for her cooking style, Chef Elliott explained, “My personal culinary style is modern regional Indonesian cuisine, which is healthy, fresh and full of flavours, while retaining the character of its Indonesian heritage. Modern regional Indonesian cuisine is characterized by its freshness, colour and is full of goodness showcasing the best local ingredients.”

In 2001, Chef Elliott participated in the BBC’s Masterchef program, marking the beginning of her carrier as a professional food writer and chef. She remains the only Indonesian to ever participate in the program. She was also involved in a number of notable charity works in the UK, where she has rubbed shoulders with Princes Charles and Andrew. “In the last eight years I volunteered as President of Yayasan Wisma Cheshire, which helps give opportunities for people with disabilities.”

Aside from being a chef and professional food writer, Chef Elliott also offers culinary advice for prominent high-end resorts and hotels in Indonesia, as well as collaborating with many international chefs to promote modern Indonesian food.
